Every claim is different, but the sequence below covers the typical arc of a fire, water, or mould restoration. We coordinate with your insurer at every step and keep you updated throughout.

Emergency call & response

Call us 24/7. We arrive on site typically within 2 to 4 hours to assess, stabilize, and begin emergency mitigation (water extraction, containment, board-up, tarping).

Insurance claim initiation

You file the claim with your insurer. We provide photographs, initial scope assessment, and documentation to support the claim. Your adjuster is typically assigned within 24 to 48 hours.

Mitigation & drying

Structural drying with dehumidifiers and air movers, controlled demolition of damaged materials, containment of contaminated or mould-affected areas. Typically 3 to 10 days depending on severity.

Scope & pricing agreement

We prepare a detailed Xactimate or custom scope with the adjuster and restoration consultant. The scope defines exactly what the insurer covers. If you want upgrades beyond pre-loss condition, they are priced separately.

Reconstruction

Full rebuild from structure to finishes: framing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, drywall, flooring, cabinetry, paint, trim. For premium homes, we match the pre-loss finish quality — custom millwork, stone, specialty materials — as approved in the scope.

What does 'independent' restoration contractor mean, and why does it matter?

An independent restoration contractor is not on a national franchise's preferred-vendor list with an insurance carrier. We are engaged directly by the homeowner or strata. Our contract is with you, not with your insurer. We coordinate fully and professionally with the adjuster and consultant on scope and pricing, but our only client is the person whose home we are rebuilding. For most homeowners this means more straightforward communication and a faster path to a well-executed rebuild.

Do you work with insurance adjusters and consultants directly?

Yes. We coordinate with all major Canadian insurers, independent adjusters, and restoration consultants (Crawford, ClaimsPro, Cunningham Lindsey, SCM, Granite Claims and others). We use Xactimate, speak the scope-of-loss language, and provide the documentation claims require. Our goal is the same as yours: a clean claim, a fair scope, and a well-built restoration on a realistic schedule.

What types of damage do you restore?

Fire and smoke damage, water damage (burst pipes, appliance failure, weather, flood), mould remediation, sewage backup, wind and tree damage, and structural damage from a combination of causes. We handle the full sequence as one licensed general contractor rather than handing the project to a separate rebuild contractor partway through.

Are you certified and insured?

Eurohouse Construction Inc. is a licensed BC general contractor since 2009, Pacific Home Warranty certified, WorkSafeBC registered, and carries $5M general liability insurance. For strata water damage work, we hold a minimum $2M certificate with the strata corporation named as additional insured on every project.

How long does insurance restoration take?

Emergency mitigation typically starts within 24 hours. The full restoration timeline depends on scope. A kitchen water loss might be 4 to 8 weeks. A whole-house fire restoration commonly runs 6 to 10 months from demolition through final move-back. The biggest variables are insurance scope approval speed, material lead times, and the quality of the pre-loss finishes.

Who pays for my insurance restoration?

Your insurer pays for everything within the approved scope of loss. Our contract is with you as the homeowner or strata, but in practice the funds flow through the claim. We work with your adjuster on scope and pricing so the approved amount covers the restoration. If you want upgrades beyond pre-loss condition, those are paid separately by the homeowner. We provide clear line-item pricing so you always know what is covered and what is not.

Do you handle strata water damage in Downtown Vancouver condos?

Yes. Strata water damage is a specialty.
