A Hidden Jewel of West Vancouver is a luxury estate design conceived by the Eurohouse team for a private client seeking a home that balances bold presence at the approach with total privacy from the street. The result is a sprawling craftsman residence nestled among mature evergreens, its layered rooflines and natural stone base settling into the mountainside as though it has always been there — while inside and to the rear, the home opens up to reveal a resort-calibre outdoor living experience with sweeping mountain views.
The front elevation presents a commanding yet refined arrival sequence: a covered porte-cochère framed by natural stone pillar columns and exposed timber gable trusses leads to a multi-car garage and generous cobblestone motor court. Cedar shingle cladding in warm grey tones, articulated window groupings with black steel frames, and carefully tiered boxwood hedging give the facade a timeless West Coast craftsman character — understated and elegant without competing with the natural setting.
The rear of the home tells a different story entirely. Here the architecture opens outward through walls of glass onto a resort-style outdoor living environment: a heated swimming pool with integrated flush-edge hot tub, a generous stone-paved pool terrace with designer chaise loungers, and a covered outdoor dining pavilion with slatted timber screens that filter the afternoon light. The upper-level balcony and clerestory window band draw the North Shore mountain panorama deep into the interior rooms, creating a constant dialogue between built form and nature.
Eurohouse provided complete design services for this project — from initial concept development and architectural massing through to photorealistic 3D visualization and full municipal permit drawings. This project exemplifies Eurohouse's ability to deliver thoughtful, site-specific design long before a single foundation is poured.
From the street, the estate is deliberately understated — a woven privacy screen and terraced landscaping conceal its true scale. Beyond the gated entry, a commanding porte-cochère and cobblestone motor court reveal the home's craftsman grandeur.
The design transforms at twilight — warm interior light spills through the window bands, exterior sconces illuminate the stone-and-timber detailing, and the pool terrace becomes a glowing private retreat against the darkening mountain backdrop.
Eurohouse offers full-spectrum design services independent of construction — giving clients, developers, and fellow builders access to the same design rigour that defines our built projects.
Complete concept-to-permit architectural design including site analysis, massing studies, floor plan development, elevation design, material specification, and construction-ready documentation.
Photorealistic 3D renderings that bring the design to life — enabling clients to experience spatial flow, material palettes, landscaping, and natural light conditions long before construction begins.
Full municipal permit drawing packages prepared for District of West Vancouver and North Shore municipal requirements, including site plans, building sections, structural references, and bylaw compliance documentation.
The home is designed to settle into the mountainside among mature evergreens, with layered rooflines and a natural stone base that root the structure in the landscape. From the street, the estate reads as a timeless part of the neighbourhood — revealing its true scale only from within.
A sculptural woven metal privacy fence runs the full street frontage, backed by terraced plantings of native grasses and red flowering shrubs. A stone-pillared pedestrian gate with a custom panel door provides the only hint of what lies beyond — the "hidden jewel" concept starts at the curb.
The rear garden is designed as a private resort: a heated swimming pool with integrated flush-edge hot tub, stone-paved terrace with designer loungers, and a covered outdoor dining pavilion with slatted timber screens — all framed by the North Shore mountain panorama.
A deliberate design strategy — the front presents quiet, understated craftsman elegance to the street while the rear explodes outward through floor-to-ceiling glass into open-air resort living. The contrast between arrival and reveal is what makes this home a hidden jewel.
A generous cobblestone motor court anchors the front elevation, with multi-car garage bays seamlessly integrated into the cedar-and-stone facade. The covered porte-cochère provides sheltered drop-off, while stone retaining walls and tiered hedging define the approach.
The design preserves and embraces the existing mature evergreen canopy, using the natural tree line as both a privacy screen and a visual anchor. Tiered hedging, stone retaining walls, and the swimming pool terrace step down the slope in harmony with the grade.
From concept sketches to permit-ready drawings and photorealistic renderings — Eurohouse offers standalone design services for homeowners, developers, and builders across the North Shore.
